Control of yield formation in winter wheat by agrotechnical means

The course of yield formation in winter wheat is shown schematically. At Hohenschulen, vegetative development was opt. with a temp. sum of 600 deg C between field emergence and shooting and a total of 450 h daylength between the beginning of growth in spring and shooting. In normal yr these conditions were met if the crop emerged by 15 Oct. In the Rhineland, emergence around 20 Nov. was opt.
