Control threshold for the rice stem borer Chilo suppressalis Walker

Although considerable work has been done in Japan to establish the threshold levels above which Chilo suppressalis (Wlk.) causes damage of economic importance to rice (work on which is reviewed), problems are encountered in establishing the adoption of spray schedules based on such thresholds. One such problem arises where cooperatives apply insecticides over wide areas of rice-fields simultaneously.
