Controlling petal shatter

Controlling petal shatter

Grower 97(7): 32

In a series of trials with seed-raised pelargoniums, cvs Red Pimpernel, Quix and Picasso, the effects of silver nitrate/sodium thiosulphate spray (silver thiosulphate spray (STS)) concentration, timing and plant part treated on petal shatter were studied. It was concluded that only the foliage needed to be sprayed and that a 35/350 p.p.m. STS solution was the most economic concentration.
