Conversion of extraction residues originating from phosphoric acid decontamination to solid deposition products

Conversion of extraction residues originating from phosphoric acid decontamination to solid deposition products

United States Patent (4,279,876): 3

Sulfuric and phosphoric acid-containing salt solutions, or raffinates, obtained in the decontamination of wet-process phosphoric acid by solvent extraction are converted to solid deposition products by reaction with hydrate of lime or quicklime. The raffinates are mixed with enough water to ensure the formation of an aqueous filterable suspension after reaction with quicklime. A solids matter content of 20-40 wt % is thus established.
