Cooperative farm bargaining and price negotiations

Cooperative farm bargaining and price negotiations

Cooperative Information Report, Economics, Statistics, and Cooperatives Service, US Department of Agriculture (CIR-26): 216

Farmers form bargaining co-operatives to try to ensure fair prices for their products. The co-operatives do that by more nearly equalizing the bargaining power between farmers and buying firms. Price, quality of the commodity, and schedule of delivery to the buyer can all be negotiated through the co-operative.
