Copper, zinc, nickel and manganese contents of milk during the lactation of sows given different supplies of trace elements

In an experiment with 2 groups of 4 German Landrace sows, different supplies of trace elements were given during gestation and lactation. Iron, copper, zinc, nickel and manganese were supplied either at just below optimum requirements, (control) or at 3-4 times the control level. The concentrations of Cu, Zn, Ni and Mn in the control milk were 1.6, 4-5, 0.11 and 0.10 mu g/g, respectively, the first colostrum having higher Cu and Zn but lower Ni and Mn contents.
