Correlation and path coefficient analysis of yield components in mutants of Triticum aestivum

Fifteen phenotypically stable mutants, which originated from the treatment of C591, Nayab and Indus 66 with gamma rays and ethyl methanesulphonate, along with the three mother cultivars were grown in 1977-78 and assessed for four quantitative traits. Grain yield per plant was positively correlated with tiller number per plant and grain number per spike. Grain number per spike was positively correlated with spike length but negatively with tiller number.
