Correlation between ABO blood groups and Rh factor and the presence of antibodies to Plasmodium malariae

Correlation between ABO blood groups and Rh factor and the presence of antibodies to Plasmodium malariae

Meditsinskaya Parazitologiya i Parazitarnye Bolezni (5): 48-51

No correlation was found between the blood group and the presence of antibodies to Plasmodium malariae in some inhabitants of Moldavia, USSR, where malaria was endemic until 1955 However, a correlation was found between positive reactions and the Rh factor: 71 of 439 Ph-positive individuals and 2 of 61 Rh-negative individuals had antibodies to P. malariae at titres above 1:20.
