Development migration, underdevelopment migration? A study of the impact of international migration on rural Morocco

Development migration, underdevelopment migration? A study of the impact of international migration on rural Morocco

Migration de developpement, migration de sous developpement? Une etude sur l' impact de la migration internationale dans le milieu rural du Maroc: 143

This reports on multidisciplinary research conducted by INSEA and the Institute of Social Geography of the University of Amsterdam. The main objective was to assess the demographic, economic and socio-cultural effects of the migration of Moroccan workers (on the migrants and their families) and the implications for the development of the area which they left. Questionnaires were devised to provide relevant data on migrant and non-migrant households of the Rif Oriental and Souss areas.
