Differences in the tissue reactions of fish in response to infection with Diphyllobothrium latum (L., 1758) plerocercoids

Differences in the tissue reactions of fish in response to infection with Diphyllobothrium latum (L., 1758) plerocercoids

Biologiya Vnutrennykh Vod, Informatsionnyi Byulleten' (39): 68-71

D. latum plerocercoids caused both specific and non-specific reactions in the organs and tissues of their fish hosts, Lota lota, Acerina cernua and Esox lucius. The fibroblastic capsule formed around the parasite differed in structure according to the organ where it was located. The best-defined structure was found in the capsules located in the liver parenchyma and in the striated muscle.
