Digestibility of protein and absorption of amino acids in different sections of the digestive tract in pigs. 4. Digestibility of crude protein and amino acids and transit rate in duodenum, ileum and total digestive tract of growing pigs

Digestibility of protein and absorption of amino acids in different sections of the digestive tract in pigs. 4. Digestibility of crude protein and amino acids and transit rate in duodenum, ileum and total digestive tract of growing pigs

Archiv fur Tierernahrung 29(7/8): 437-460

4. Digestibility of protein and amino acids and N balance were tested in 6 growing female pigs before and after insertion of duodenal and ileocaecal re-entrant cannulae and in subsequent experiments with them duodenal or ileal chyme was collected. Labels used were 35S and 15N. Feed was based on N-free mixture supplemented with wheat, wheat gluten and lysine. For part of the time 2 pigs had N-free diet. Absorption of methionine and glutamic acid exceeded endogenous secretion, even in duodenum.
