Digestibility of protein and absorption of amino acids in different sections of the digestive tract in pigs. 6. Results of giving lysine

Digestibility of protein and absorption of amino acids in different sections of the digestive tract in pigs. 6. Results of giving lysine

Archiv fur Tierernahrung 29(12): 771-780

6. Two fattening pigs weighing 63 kg with re-entrant cannulae in the duodenum and the ileocaecal region were used to estimate the intake, excretion and transit times of nitrogen, 15N, lysine and ysine was given by mouth as a supplement to a diet based on wheat and wheat gluten. Estimates of the absorption of naturally occurring and supplemental lysine were made and also the endogenous and exogenous lysine contents of the duodenal and ileal chyme were determined.
