In studies of 272-437 varieties during 1970-79 for resistance to Ascochyta melonis, Erysiphe cichoracearum + Sphaerotheca fuliginea, Pseudoperonospora cubensis and Pseudomonas lachrymans, the most resistant to the fungal diseases were 185, 908/72, Hybrid Long Green Pickling, Belgie 9, Mestnyi K2259 African, MSU9410, Marcet Gemini 7, Marcet Cherokee 1, MSU521g, 0702 Tehy Dill, Soficory Hybrid, Tablegreen, MSU9429-2, MSU9410-8, M5322, Rishu, Sunpufushinare and Summer Prolific.
