Surveys from 1937 to 1956 demonstrated a high prevalence of Echinostoma lindoense in residents of 3 villages on the shore of Lake Lindu in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Human infections evidently played the principal role in maintaining the life-cycle of this parasite and the infections were obtained primarily from the mussel, Corbicula, which was a substantial part of the diet of the local population.
