Effect of certain features of the peeling of thick veneer on its yield

Effect of certain features of the peeling of thick veneer on its yield

Lesnoi Zhurnal (1): 55-58

A study was made of the cutting forces, and the increased waste resulting from the need to re-adjust the lathe during the peeling of thick veneer (2-8 mm). Some data are tabulated on the specific force and the total force acting on bolts of birch and aspen during peeling; the total cutting force for a bolt 1600 mm long was more than 100 kN.
