Effect of different dates of sowing of sorghum on the incidence of red leaf spot disease and major insect pests in Punjab

Studies were carried out at in 4 different agroclimatic regions of the Punjab, India, in 1978 and 1979, to determine the effect of sowing date on the incidence of red leaf-spot disease and or Atherigona soccata Rond. and Chilo partellus (Swinh.) on sorghum. Damage by A. soccata was highest at Ludhiana, followed by Kheri and Abohar, and was greater on late-sown crops than on early-sown ones at Ludhiana and Kheri in both years.
