For 6 weeks 10 men and 83 women 66 to 101 years old living in the same conditions were given their usual diet or the same enriched with essential fatty acids (EFA) by replacing part of the animal fat and all margarine low in EFA with sunflower oil and margarine containing 40% EFA. Blood was sampled and systolic and diastolic blood pressures were estimated at the beginning and end of the 6 weeks.
