Effect of fertilizer rate on the establishment and yield of four legumes in a pasture of Bahia grass (Paspalum notatum Flugge)

In a trial in 1976-7 in Guarapuava, a 4-yr-old Bahia grass pasture received N, P2O5 and K2O at 20, 60 and 40 or 60, 180 and 120 kg/ha annually with Ca at 2 or 3 t/ha, resp., or no fertilizer. Sub-plots were sown on 3 June 1976 with seed of birdsfoot trefoil, white clover. red clover or subterranean clover. Total DM yields for the 2 yr of the grass/legume mixtures were 2.82-3.27 t/ha, and were not significantly different.
