Effect of foliar applied urea on protein, kernel hardness, and yield of winter wheat genotypes

A field study was conducted to determine the effect of foliar urea sprays during flowering on 10 genotypes of winter wheat for grain protein percentage, grain yield and grain hardness when grown in 4 diverse environments. In addition, 2 genotypes from the field study were used in a greenhouse experiment for measuring opt. grain N uptake with 15N-labelled urea under different daylengths and soil fertility levels. Significant genotype X N treatment interactions were found for all 3 attributes.
