Effect of micronutrients on the quality of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)

Effect of micronutrients on the quality of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)

Vegetable Science 7(1): 6-13

Three-year trials were carried out with the tomato Co.2 receiving basal NPK fertilization plus Zn (5 - 5000 p.p.m.), Cu (10 - 3000 p.p.m.), Fe (5 - 5000 p.p.m.) or Mn (10 - 5000 p.p.m.). In each case low rates were applied to the soil and high rates to the foliage. Micronutrients generally increased fruit ascorbic acid content by 2 - 7 mg/100 g but some reduction in TSS was noted, especially at high Zn rates.
