3 rice grown in 1973-4 at 2 spacings and given no fertilizer, 80 kg N + 40 kg P2O5 + 30 kg K2O or 120 kg N + 60 kg P2O5 + 45 kg K2O/ha gave av. paddy yields of 1.86, 3.31 and 3.57 t/ha, resp. Yields at a spacing of 15 X 15 and 23 X 23 cm were similar (2.89-2.94 t/ha). Yields of the early-maturing Saket-3, the mid-season Sona and the late-maturing Jagannath were 2.84, 3.48 and 2.42 t/ha, resp.
