A control group of highly productive Lowland Black Spotted cows was given a basal diet, while test groups got the basal diet with the protein replaced with urea and urea phosphate. During early lactation the test cows had less free lysine, histidine, arginine, valine, leucine and phenylalanine in blood serum than the controls.
