A 3-day pretreatment with trifluralin at 5 p.p.m. in the nutrient solution increased tomato Heinz 1350 tolerance to foliar applications of metribuzin 0.56 kg/ha. Fresh wt. loss due to metribuzin was 3% with trifluralin pretreatment compared to 50% in controls. MH at 0.2% concn. in a foliar spray increased tomato tolerance to metribuzin and reduced the fresh wt. loss from metribuzin treatment from 83% to 27%. Daminozide did not significantly increase tomato tolerance to metribuzin.
