Estimating the organization and reorganization of the soil mineral nitrogen by the compartment-model method. I. Case of a bare soil

Estimating the organization and reorganization of the soil mineral nitrogen by the compartment-model method. I. Case of a bare soil

Agronomie 1(1): 19-26

A two-compartment model is proposed for the study of soil organic matter, one compartment (I) including all labile organic substances, both living and non-living, and the other compartment (II) including stabilized, non-living organic compounds of low reactivity. Most of the active biochemical processes in soil is supposed to take place in I. The model proposed allows the calculation of the recycling of N as a function of the amount of C supplied to I.
