Although Moroccan national income increased more than fourfold between 1960 and 1976, due to the high rate of population increases (about 3%), per caput income increased only 2.7 times. The GDP (at 1960 constant prices) doubled during the same period. The contribution of the agricultural sector to the GDP has fallen proportionately since the mid-1970s. It still has a predominant importance, however, at about 25%.
