Floral differentiation in carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) from anthers cultured in vitro

Floral differentiation in carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) from anthers cultured in vitro

Phyton, Argentina 41(1/2): 71-75

Anthers of imported White Sim carnation flowers containing unicellular microspores were cultured on a Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with 1 mg/l IAA and 1 mg/l kinetin. Shoots formed in 32% of the anthers after about 26 weeks in culture. All these shoots rooted and flower formation occurred after about 52 weeks in culture.
