Genetic analysis of resistance to brown rust and grain yield in wheat

Two varieties out of 15, namely CPAN1444 and VL425, were resistant at the seedling stage to all three races studied of Puccinia recondita. In a diallel cross amongst these 15 varieties, seedling resistance to race 104 was dominant and monogenic; two varieties, namely VL425 and IWP503, had the same resistance gene. Some resistant segregates were observed in the F2 of crosses between susceptible parents. Adult-plant resistance was controlled by major and minor genes.
