Genetic and phenotypic parameters of Lalahan New Hampshires in respect of body weight, egg weight, egg production traits and estimation of a selection index

Data were analysed from records on 344 males and 331 females , the progeny of 20 sires and 66 dams. Estimates of h2 for 4-, 6- and 8-wk body weight were 0.39, 0.50 and 0.50 resp. from sire components, 0.41, 0.55 and 0.58 from dam components, and 0.39, 0.52 and 0.56 from sire + dam components. Corresponding estimates of h2 for egg weight were 0.42, 0.63 and 0.52, and for egg production 0.39, 0.32 and 0.36.
