Genetic evaluation and utilization (GEU) program. Grain quality. Lipids of mature and developing grain. Lipids of developing IR42 rice grain

Annual Report for 1978: 32

Free and bound lipids accumulated in the rice grain during the first 12 and 20 days after flowering, resp. Glycolipids and phospholipids were synthesized faster than neutral lipids (fatty acids), which were mainly (a) palmitic, (b) oleic and (c) linoleic acids. During grain development (b) increased and (c) decreased. Bound lipids had more (a) and less (b) than free lipids.
