Data on daughters of young test bulls, calving for the 1st time in 1975 and 1976 (76 and 81 Friesian sires, and 68 and 67 Jersey sires in the 2 yr resp. 20-30 daughters/sire) were assessed in March and Oct. with respect to fat yield, aptitude for machine milking, milkability, temperament, mastitis and blood. Most important factors affecting survival from 1st to 2nd lactation were fat yield, mastitis and temperament.
