Genetic variability studies in American cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

A total of 33 types were evaluated for height, sympodia/plant, bolls/plant, boll weight, halo length, ginning percentage, lint index, seed index and yield of seed cotton/plant. Types differed significantly for all characters studied. Height, sympodia/plant, bolls/plant and lint index showed comparatively high estimates of genetic advance accompanied by high estimates of heritability.
