Geographical and seasonal variations in the relationship between trace metal content and body weight in Mytilus edulis

Mussels (Mytilus edulis) were collected from 3 stations in the St. Lawrence estuary, Canada in spring 1977 and April to June 1978. Concentrations of cadmium, copper, iron, manganese, nickel and zinc in soft part of the body was higher for smaller than for larger mussels. There were 3 types of relations between concentration and dry weight of soft part of body, according to the metal, season and place, not uniform slopes for a given metal and species.
