Haemadsorption test for African swine fever virus in Angola

Experiments were conducted at the Angolan Veterinary Research Institute with 14 strains of African and 3 strains of classical swine fever virus. The best of three variants in technique involved changing the culture medium at the time of infection of leukocyte culture (method of Hess & De Tray 1969), and add 0.2 ml of 2% suspension of erythroces after 7 h of culture. This variant overcame phagocytosis of the erythrocytes.
