Hay production of Bermudagrass cultivars in response to nitrogen fertilization

Tennessee Farm and Home Science (114): 30-34

The effects of 0, 60, 120, 240, 360, 480 and 720 lb N/ac on hay production of Bermuda grass Midland, Coastal and locally adapted Common were studied at 4 locations in Tennessee. Generally hay production increased with increasing N levels at each location. Mean yields ranged from 1 to 2.9 tons/ac without N. At 120 lb N/ac, hay production of the 2 improved ranged from 3.9 to 5.0 tons/ac in Middle and W. Tennessee; Common produced 2.2-4.7 tons/ac annually.
