Host range, virulence, and control of Pythium splendens Braun from Peperomia orba Bunt

Host range, virulence, and control of Pythium splendens Braun from Peperomia orba Bunt

Proceedings of the Florida State Horticultural Society 1980; 92: 355-358

A heterothallic isolate of this fungus was identified as the cause of root rot of P. orba. When its host range and virulence were compared with those of a homothallic isolate from Caladium hortulanum by planting 11 ornamental plants in infested soil for 4 months, differences in susceptibility were observed among the spp. The heterothallic isolate caused disease more frequently than the homothallic one.
