Host suitability and biology of Paratheresia claripalpis Wulp. (Tachinidae: Diptera)

Host suitability and biology of Paratheresia claripalpis Wulp. (Tachinidae: Diptera)

Indian Journal of Plant Protection 1979; 6(1): 36-39

Laboratory studies were carried out in India on the biology of Paratheresia claripalpis (Wulp) and the suitability of 6 pest species as hosts of the parasite. P. claripalpis completed its life-cycle on all 6 pest species (Acigona steniellus (Hmps.), Chilo partellus (Swinh.), C. infuscatellus Sn., C. auricilius Dudgn., Tryporyza nivella (F.) and Galleria mellonella (L.)), but only those larvae reared on A. steniellus and C. partellus resulted in adults that produced progeny.
