Host susceptibility, histopathologic and transmission studies on Ceratomyxa shasta, a myxosporidan parasite of salmonid fish

Host susceptibility, histopathologic and transmission studies on Ceratomyxa shasta, a myxosporidan parasite of salmonid fish

Fish Pathology 14(4): 183

In the USA, the range of occurrence of Ceratomyxa shasta was extended to include the lower Willamette River in Oregon. No infections were obtained in susceptible salmonids held in liveboxes at or upstream from mile 134. The source of ceratomyxosis appeared to be the main river channel. For most years tested, salmonids developed ceratomyxosis when exposed to Willamette River water from early April to mid-November.
