Host-feeding patterns of Japanese mosquitoes II. A host-blood identification study of daytime-resting Culex pipiens pallens in Kyoto, Japan

In further studies in Japan (see preceding abstract), the Ouchterlony double diffusion method was used to identify the blood-meal sources of Culex pipiens pallens Coq. collected in the field during the daytime. Mosquitoes were collected at 2 stations in the suburbs of Kyoto in 1973 and 1974 by the use of a drop-net cage and by sweeping. The 8 different hosts identified were birds, dogs, cats, cows, pigs, mice, snakes and man.
