Host-parasite relations of Chaunocephalus similiferox Verma, 1936 (Trematoda, Echinostomatidae) in the bird host Anastomus ositatus

Host-parasite relations of Chaunocephalus similiferox Verma, 1936 (Trematoda, Echinostomatidae) in the bird host Anastomus ositatus

Acta Parasitologica Polonica, 2731: 273-278

Chaunocephalus similiferox were recovered from cyst-like structures in the intestinal mucosa of Anastomus ositatus from lakes Fatch Sagar, Pichola and Bhatewar, and a zoological garden, Udaipur, India. The cysts contained from one to 4 flukes. When single flukes were recovered they were of normal size and contained large numbers of eggs but when 2 or more flukes were recovered from the cysts they were small with few eggs.
