Host-parasite relationships in the system Khawia sinensis - carp in low intensity infection

Host-parasite relationships in the system Khawia sinensis - carp in low intensity infection

Trudy Vsesoyuznogo Nauchno Issledovatel' skogo Instituta Prudovogo Rybnogo Khozyaistva Parazity, bolezni ryb i ikh parazity 27: 75-87

A 3-year study of Khawia sinensis infection in carp at the Zagorskii Experimental Station, USSR, showed that infection intensity below 10 helminths/fish made no significant difference to the size, nutritional state and weight of group O carp. A slight retardation in weight gain was observed only in infected fish fed on artificial feed. No increases in basophil numbers, no eosinophilia nor specific humoral or tissue reactions were observed.
