Housewives, peasants, the marginalized: subsistence production in the Third and First World

Housewives, peasants, the marginalized: subsistence production in the Third and First World

Bielefelder Studien der Entwicklungssoziologie (10): vii, 274

The work is presented in opposition to the presently prevailing way of looking at "work" and "production". It takes the side of the so-called "marginalized" people, for women and peasants, and opposes the marxist understanding of a passive "relative overpopulation" with a positive new evaluation of their economic activity, which forms an integral and indispensable component of the present world-wide economic system.
