Housing and the control of vectors of human Chagas' disease in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil

Housing and the control of vectors of human Chagas' disease in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil

Bulletin of the Pan American Health Organization 16(2): 117-129

Government strategy in Brazil for combating Chagas' disease, caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, is directed primarily towards preventing the infestation of houses by the triatomines that are vectors of the pathogen. In practice, this has mainly been restricted to insecticide spraying, and transmission in several parts of the States of Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais has been successfully interrupted by this means.
