How U.S. cotton is sold for export

[Publication] Foreign Agricultural Service, US Department of Agriculture (FAS M-198): 48

Exports of US cotton fluctuate considerably from year to year; average annual exports during the last few years have been comparable to those of about 60 years ago. The largest US export volume during this period was 11.3 million bales in marketing year 1926/27, while the smallest shipments, averaging only about 1.4 million bales, were during 1940-44. Marketing year 1979/80 exports reached 9.2 million bales, the highest level since 1926/27.
