How black scour worms affect sheep

How black scour worms affect sheep

Rural Research, Australia (108): 29-31

A summary is presented of the work done in Australia on sheep infected with Trichostrongylus colubriformis. It was found that protein loss during infection was a result of the flattening of the intestinal lining, there was more active protein absorption in the lower intestine in infected than uninfected sheep and the reduction of muscle and wool growth was a result of reduced feed intake.
