How does growing plants under shade affect transplanting success?

How does growing plants under shade affect transplanting success?

American Nurseryman 154(4): 8, 24, 26, 28

Container-grown plants of Cornus racemosa, Spiraea X vanhouttei, Syringa X chinensis and Viburnum dentatum were placed in full sun or 75 or 53% sunlight in mid-May and transplanted to the field in full sun in July, and irrigated as necessary for the rest of the summer. C. racemosa and V. dentatum grown in 53% sunlight suffered greater transplanting shock (assessed visually in September) than those grown in full sun, the response of those grown in 75% sunlight being intermediate.
