How many chokers to fly in cable thinnings? A question for simulation

Forest Products Journal 31(11): 54-58

Using cable logging to harvest small diam. logs may result in low production rates and high costs per unit of wood produced. However, yarding productivity might be improved by flying more chokers or by rigging for additional lift. The number of chokers to fly for a specific thinning intensity was determined using data from select field studies, payload analysis, and a simulation model called THIN.
