How the ski-jump uproar was resolved

Landscape Architecture 70(1): 59-63

This article describes the controversy which was generated by the construction of 70m and 90m ski jumps at Lake Placid, N.Y. for the Olympic Games. The main issue was that of the visual impact of the tower structure on the adjacent John Brown farm and on the forest preserve lands of Adirondack Park around the village. Three view boundaries were established, outer, middle and near.
