How to manage a heavily stocked dairy farm

How to manage a heavily stocked dairy farm

New Zealand Journal of Agriculture 144(6): 24-25

The importance of the amount of pasture grown over a season and the utilization of that feed, which depends on uniform summer rainfall and soil quality, are discussed in relation to stocking rate. Management of pastures if stocking rate is increased including the proportion of feed available for production after maintenance requirements are met and extra grazing pressure in periods of slow pasture growth, is described.
