Parasitological examination of a single faecal sample from 479 inhabitants of Rolecha, Rio Negro and Hualaihue, X Region, Chile, revealed Trichuris trichiura in 292 (61%), Ascaris lumbricoides in 172 (36%), Giardia lamblia in 68 (14%), Entamoeba histolytica in 31 (6.5%) and Hymenolepis nana in 11 (2%). The prevalence of most infections was highest in children aged 0 to 9 years.
