Human motives in farming

Agricultural Progress 55: 119-123

This paper describes a survey conducted in the West of England in an attempt to discover which values most affected farmers' decision making. Values were classified as economic, social, expressive and intrinsic. 54 farmers were asked to indicate how personally important they found 16 values concerned with farming. They answered according to a seven point scale.
